Commercial Construction Worker

Hampden, ME
Full Time
Entry Level

Build commercial projects close to home, with crews that teach, tools already on hand, and room to move up.

About Hardy Construction Inc.

We're a third-generation, family-owned commercial building contractor based in Hampden. We handle everything from small remodels to large ground-up buildings, including negotiated and design/build projects where we get to influence the materials and construction methods instead of simply bidding a finished set of plans against 10 other contractors. We've built or remodeled 14 convenience stores for the same owner, which says a lot about the quality of our work and relationships.

How You’ll Contribute

The business is growing in sales volume and taking on larger projects. We have multiple active projects and 4 crews with a backlog of work into late 2027. You'll help keep projects moving while protecting the level of quality that we're known for. You’ll get to work with different crews and project superintendents, learn from highly skilled carpenters, iron workers, and metal workers, and help finish commercial projects you can look at with pride.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Help complete commercial building projects by working with crews from start to finish on remodels, renovations, upgrades, and ground-up work.
  • Keep schedules moving by helping the team set goals and getting it done together.
  • Build quality projects by supporting carpentry, metal siding, metal roofing, concrete forming, structural steel upgrades, and other building construction work.
  • Get paid to learn more of the trades by working alongside skilled carpenters, iron workers, and metal workers who are willing to teach.
  • Support projects of different types and sizes, including a ground-up 40,000-square-foot metal building with office build-out, school renovations, metal siding and roofing, structural steel upgrades, and minor concrete work.
  • Build yourself up for future advancement by learning the work, helping the crews get it done well, and working up towards roles like Foreman, Job Superintendent, Project Manager, Estimator, or Project Manager.

What You Bring

  • You may already know your way around carpentry, metal siding/roofing, structural steel, concrete forming, and other building construction work. If you’re newer, you’re ready to learn from people who know the craft and expect good work.
  • You like working with people who are casual, competent, and proud of their work.
  • You value finishing a project and being able to look at it with pride because you were involved in its completion.
  • You’re comfortable working with different leaders and crew styles while still staying focused on the project, schedule, and quality of work.

Even Better But Not Required

  • You're skilled in carpentry, metal work, iron work, concrete forming, and/or other building construction work and able to perform work independently.

Typical Schedule

This is a year-round position Monday through Friday 6:30am - 3pm, with rare Saturdays (only 2-3 times per year). 40-45 hours per week. Work is local, usually within a 60-mile radius, though we may go outside that to do renovations or upgrades for a valued client with facilities further out.
